Description

A portrait of Eve in The Garden of Eden being tempted by the serpent to eat the fruit from The Tree of Knowledge.

This was the first time I "successfully" used myself as a reference. However, it turned out to look a little more like me than I wanted it to. I'm not very good with altering my references... :

So I guess if you wanted to, you could call it a self-portrait. In that case, it would be my first one ever!

Wow! Yah, great expression. Agreed that the snake could use a little more work, and the bottom jaw (or the snake) looks odd (wrong perspective, and a little too long I think--and the top fang is too large). Still, I love it! Nice job.

Very nice! I love the expression on Eve's face--she seems like she really doesn't care whether she eats the apple or not! :)

I think the figure is rendered very well. Wonderful job on the skin tones and blending. The hair, especially that close to the top of the head, is great.

The snake needs some work. As others have mentioned, it's a bit soft compared to the rest of the work. Additionally, there is an odd look to the portion coming out of Eve's hair. Since the scales don't have a treatment accounting for perspective and foreshortening, it appears that the snake just drops down and abruptly goes to the right, like a big "L". The top portion of the snake's head looks very realistic, though the bottom is a bit off. The jaw is at a different angle than the rest off the head and doesn't seem to join up cleanly with the rest. Not that it's required, since it's your painting, but snakes don't have very developed bottom teeth, so the illusion of realism is somewhat broken.

The background is a lovely compliment to pretty much all the foreground elements. Great color and lighting!

EDIT: And you're just cute as a button ;)

...agree about the upper parts of the snake losing perspective. But overall its a beautiful picture. The soft, muted greens in the bg against her skintone and that delicious red apple is wonderful to look at. Well done!

The eyes are kinda wacky, considering the iris looks three D.... that was a compliment, btw, if you misinterpreted it. Touches of wackiness are so cool. And I mean, seriously, this is stunning. Well deserving of #1, I adore snakes and the snake my my jaw DROP.

Yes nicely done, and the hand could use some work. Thoughs last 3 fingers are a little unatural. But sweet colors on the hair and face. The scales so seem uneven. But all in all great work.!!!
